Dr. Harshwardhan Godbole is a highly accomplished Consultant Urological and Laparoscopic Surgeon with a distinguished career shaped by a deep-rooted legacy in medicine. Raised in Thane, Maharashtra, he hails from a family spanning three generations of medical professionals, where clinical excellence and patient care have been enduring values.

His grandfather, Dr. V. K. Ketkar, was a respected general physician, while his grand uncle, Dr. R. V. Sathe, was an eminent physician and former Vice Chancellor of University of Mumbai. Both his parents were accomplished surgeons; his father, Dr. C. G. Godbole, a Consultant General Surgeon, and his mother, Dr. S. C. Godbole, a Consultant Gynaecologist, served as early inspirations in his journey toward medicine.

Education & Professional Training

Dr. Godbole completed his foundational medical training at Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, two of India's most prestigious institutions. Following this, he pursued advanced surgical training in the United Kingdom, where he successfully completed specialist training, obtained certification, and was included in the UK Specialist Register under the General Medical Council (GMC).

He has since practised extensively within the NHS and private healthcare sectors in the UK as a Consultant Urological and Laparoscopic Surgeon, bringing together international expertise with a patient-centric approach.

He has also been involved in mentoring and training junior doctors and medical students at North Middlesex University Hospital in the UK, fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Family & Personal Life

Medicine continues to run in the family. His elder brother, Dr. Rajeev Godbole, is a cardiac surgeon, and his nephew, Dr. Yash Godbole, is also a urologist. His daughter, Ms. Gauri Godbole, has pursued advanced studies in laparoscopic surgery and is currently undertaking her MBBS at St. Bartholomew's Hospital in London.

His wife, Mrs Rashmi Godbole, is a Chartered Accountant specialising in healthcare finance in the UK and serves as a co-director and administrator at HRG Urology.

Beyond Medicine

Beyond his clinical commitments, Dr. Godbole leads a well-rounded, active life. An avid outdoor enthusiast, he enjoys trekking and hiking, and is a passionate animal lover with a deep affinity for nature.

He is also a sports enthusiast, regularly playing badminton and following lawn tennis and T20 cricket. His creative interests include cooking, where he considers himself an experimental chef, and a deep appreciation for Hindustani classical music, through which he met his wife.

In his earlier years, he demonstrated a flair for the performing arts, directing skits and choreographing musicals. He continues to nurture a keen interest in storytelling and is particularly drawn to exploring fictional and documentary filmmaking.

Charity

Dr. Godbole has a philanthropic approach to his professional and personal life. This has been an attribute he developed early on in his life following his parents example of incorporating charitable practices in daily life.

He has conducted many successful charity urological camps in Thane Civil Hospital, treating patients entirely free of cost using his own equipment, in his own time, at his own expenses.

He has always cherished the dream to deliver the same level of expertise which he offers to his patients in London to the less affording patients especially in Thane where he was born.

Charitable Contributions

Dr. Godbole regularly offers charitable donations to orphanages, as well as institutions who care for the elderly. He also donates to organisations in UK who help with reducing homelessness.

Future Vision

Dr Godbole intends to develop robotic surgery in Thane, in a medium-sized hospital, to make such advanced surgery and technology available to the non-affording segment of the population. He intends to have stronger ties with Rajiv Gandhi Medical College, Kalwa, to help enhance and upgrade the technological treatment options offered to non-fee paying surgical patients.
