Infertility is the inability to achieve pregnancy after one year of unprotected intercourse. Nearly 40% of infertility cases can be attributed to males and hence men should be examined in parallel to their female partner.
A detailed medical history and a through physical examination should be carried out and investigations in the form of qualitative semen analysis and hormone profile should be conducted. If appropriate an ultrasound scan may be carried out. Both partners should be seen in parallel and ideally in the setting of an infertility set up if needed.
