His grandfather, Dr. V. K. Ketkar, was a general physician, and his grand-uncle, Dr. R. V. Sathe, was a physician and a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Mumbai. His father, Dr. C. G. Godbole, was a Consultant General Surgeon, and his mother, Dr. S. C. Godbole, a Consultant Gynaecologist. His elder brother, Dr. Rajeev Godbole, is a cardiac surgeon. His wife, Mrs. Rashmi Godbole, a Chartered Accountant specialising in healthcare finance, is co-director and administrator of HRG Urology.
